The Gotham Comedy Club, located next to the historic Chelsea Hotel in a 1929 structure, is noted for its decor and ambiance as well as its great lineups. As you stroll through the crimson carpeted hallways, you’ll feel as if you’ve been transported back in time to the golden age of live entertainment. Many TV shows and films have featured it, including Jerry Seinfeld’s 2002 Miramax film “Comedian” and Larry David’s pilot for “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

With a brick wall behind the stage, a candlelit showroom, and a conventional cocktail menu, New York Comedy Club has that “classic” aesthetic. Since the new proprietors took over in 2014, they’ve revamped their drink specials, but the same high levels of talent remain. Stand up NY, Upper West Side
Since its inception in 1986, Stand Up NY has cultivated the talents of famous comedians such as Amy Schumer, Artie Lange, and Aziz Ansari. There’s also an annual membership card dubbed the “Stand Up NY LaughPass” that covers unlimited shows, a complimentary drink upon arrival, VIP choice seating, and more if you become a great fan.
The Lantern Comedy Club, NY
The Lantern is a bar, restaurant, and New York City comedy club all rolled into one! You do not need to purchase any tickets; the performances are absolutely free (with a one-drink minimum). You can make a reservation online, but you must attend 20 minutes before the start of the event or your seat will be given away. This is a terrific place to see more up-and-coming comedians from New York City.
Upright Citizen’s Brigade
The Upright Citizens Brigade, even though it’s more of an improv theatre than an NYC comedy club. They “defy categorization” known as the best original live theatre with a plot, sketch, stand-up comedy, variety events, and other cool stuff, according to their website. If you’re looking for a unique but funny experience, this is the place to be!
